What Can I Do?

Who We Need

Volunteers

Our SATCOOL starts after the World Cup has ended, that’s on Saturday 17th July. We require volunteers for
at least every Saturday from 10am
until 1pm until 23rd September which is when the term ends. If a volunteer wishes to continue for the fourth term, we would be grateful.

Our children range in ages from 6 – 18 years. All the children want to attend the school. It depends on what a teacher wants to teach and the age group they choose. We prefer our children to work in classes of not more than 12 students because in their schools, they are one of forty
or one of sixty.

One child who was taken out of a school in Alexandra said to the woman who sent him to the School of Arts, “Wow! I can’t believe it. The teacher can see me!” The subjects we are concentrating on are English, Maths and Computer skills.

How To Get Involved

Ingelosi Network

The Ingelosi Network consists of adults who can afford R300 a month or $400
a year for one child.

If you are interested in applying as
an Ingelosi, please send an e-mail to:

info@renalelona.co.za

It helps if the Ingelosi tells us if they have a particular child in mind, or if they want to assist a girl child or a boy child. Some people want to support a very young child, some an older child, some don’t mind. We send them an Ingelosi request form which they complete.

They can either donate R300 by debit order or the entire sum which we will then pay out for clothing or food or whatever the child wants, each month. We inform the Ingelosi of the child’s circumstances, her age, her grade at school, and what she or he is interested in.

At least twice or three times a year we will contact the Ingelosi by email and describe how their child is doing and how their funds have been spent. We can attach all receipts. If an Ingelosi is local and wants to take their child out for a day, this can be arranged with permission from their guardian. Visits to the centre to see a child are welcomed. Also a photograph of an Ingelosi does wonders for the child. We can send every Ingelosi a photo of their child.

Make A Donation

'Sponsor a Brick'

Rena le Lona is housed in a
brick building.

If you would like to leave your mark, literally, you may donate $25,00 which buys your name on a brick. We will paint your name on the brick in full, so you need to send us your first name and surname, for example, Gillian Golding. In doing this our children will become familiar with your name as a sponsor. If you prefer to buy, for example,
six bricks for each member of your family, the donation would be
6 x $25 which is $150.

For South Africans, the amount per brick is R100 per brick. We will
email you a picture of your brick,
so please notify us of your email.
Your donation entitles you to receive the Rena le Lona newsletter six times a year.
